Lucknow: With an aim to expose the prevailing corruption in the state,
Congress is all geared up to use Right to Information (RTI) as a tool
to target the Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) government. While addressing a
press conference at party office, state Congress president Rita
Bahuguna Joshi claimed the party will launch an RTI drive to expose
misappropriation of funds by the various government departments.

On party instructions, Youth Congress has filed 1,318 RTIs in 254
blocks of 25 districts to collect information about the work carried
out under the National Rural Health Mission (NRHM). Youth Congress
members are inspired by party's General Secretary Rahul Gandhi, who
himself visited NRHM office and filed an RTI to collect the details
about the project.

Joshi said, "Through RTIs we have asked about NRHM information at the
block level, so that each and every detail could be cross checked."
She further added that Youth Congress has been given the
responsibility to file RTIs and examine the details of NRHM.

The Congress leader said, "To expose the mismanagement of funds
allotted under NRHM by the Union government, we have asked for
detailed information about all the work carried out under the
project."

Further, she pointed out that Congress will soon file more RTIs to
collect information about the functioning of government departments
and the use of funds allotted by the Centre.
