Not to say of RTI , even the human values are biting the dust in the present regime of Uttar Pradesh . The culprits are free and the victims are forced to lead a life of a forced house arrestee. If we go down the memory lane , we can easily recall the cases of Budhai Ram Gautam and Dr. Amarnath Pandey , the two rti activists from uttar Pradesh , who were victimized for exposing corruption . Though they were fortunate that they survived the life-attacks but have been forced to lead a traumatic life since then. Budhai Ram has not been able to get his F.I.R. lodged and no effective development has been made in amaranth pandey's F.I.R. amaranth pandey was attacked on 20 jan 2011 , was shot at on 26th januaury 2011. FIR for both crimes was lodged on 26th januaury . Even after more than 20 days nothing has changed for rti activist amarnathji except that he is forced to lead a traumatic life of a forced house arrestee. " if no arrests are made in my case , the people around sonebhadra shall not dare to raise their voice against corruption " , pandeyji told me over telephone. Our efforts ( dharnas , correspondences , agitations etc. ) has not been able to bring the final relief to them. All our efforts were lauded by the media all across the country but is it justified to leave them midway , exposed to all the threats . perhaps not . but with no other effective remedy at hand , what should we do . so I am leaving the issue to the members to decide the future course of action.
